This workshop is olrganized by the Spring 2008 Adv 400/590 class!

Advertising 400/590 has been described as an engaging course that encourages class participation and discussion in regards
to the latest changes in the environmental movement and advertising.
During the semester we have focused our attention to two different areas. We have read various academic materials regarding persuasion techniques and environmental concerns. We have also split into groups in order to come up with anti-littering campaigns for the UIUC campus.
Real world perspectives have been incorporated through various guest lecturers. We have also managed to stay current through our class blog. This blog can be viewed at http://uiucenvcomm.wordpress.com/ .
Our class has had the overarching goal of attempting to bring together advertising, which promotes consumption, and better environmental habits, which typically discourage overconsumption. The Ecologies of Consumption Workshop is a wonderful place for us to test drive our anti-littering campaigns. Eventually, we hope to launch the campaigns on campus and show that advertising can be good for the environment.
